Headstart
I have a login and a password setup for a Headstart course at my work computer, but when I try to access it at home, it says that my account isn't registered.
Your user information is stored on your local computer only, so be aware that your progress is not transferable to other locations. Also, we will not be able to help you reset your password, so please pick something that is easy for you to remember. Avoid using your AKO account information.
I downloaded the Headstart2 course from your website, but after unzipping it and clicking on start.html, a page appeared that contained only the background graphic - the login screen did not appear as with other courses.
In order to view the Headtsart2 course correctly, you will have to update your computer's Global Security settings via the Adobe company website. Please follow the directions on the following PDF in order to update these settings.
I signed up for access to one of the Headstart programs and I can't remember my password.
The Headstart2 program saves your course progress and user information on your local computer only, so we are unable to access your username and/or password for you.
I have attempted to download the Headstart2 for iPod but have been unable to get the system to work properly. When I click on the link for downloading instructions and files, it runs without downloading anything. Do you have other downloading instructions so that I may put this program on my iPod?
In order to download the Headstart iPod zip file, right-click the "DOWNLOAD HEADSTART2 FOR IPOD" link and select "Save Target As..." (on IE) or "Save Link As..." (on Firefox). Save the zip file to your computer. Once you have created a local copy of the zip file, you can unzip and extract the files. Open the "headstart_pashto_ipod" folder and click on the instruction "ipod.htm" file to see the instructions.
Directly opening a zip file by clicking the download link can lead to an error on some set-ups and is not recommended for this reason.
Is the fact that I am operating on a MAC hindering my ability to access Headstart?
Language with left-to-right scripts (e.g. Russian, Portuguese, Chinese-Mandarin) are viewable on Macs. Right-to-left languages such as the Arabic dialects are currently not available for the MAC, but they are under development.
Countries in Perspective / Cultural Orientation
I cannot see the Assessments at the end of the chapters or the Final Assessments at the end of the product.
First, be sure you are accessing the Assessments using Internet Explorer or Firefox. If you are using Internet Explorer 8, download the file below and follow the instructions to configure your browser.
Next, confirm that ActiveX Control is active within the browser you are using. You will probably see a yellow line at the top of your browser. Right click on it and select "Allow Blocked Content". A small window will pop up saying, "Are you sure you want to let this file run active content?" Select "yes".
Finally, your Flash settings may need to be adjusted. Please download the file below to adjust your settings
Are the courses on this website worth promotion points?
Traditionally completing college courses and MOS correspondence courses are awarded promotion points. However, please check with your NCOIC or personnel office to determine if they award points for these courses. Our materials are relatively new, so they may not have been evaluated yet.
How can I show my supervisor that I have completed these courses?
Many of our materials, the Country in Perspective series, the Cultural Orientation series, and the HeadStart series, provide certificates upon completion.
I cannot find the country or language I am looking for on your site.
If you have checked both the country and language menus in the top right hand corner of your screen and still do not see the country or language you are looking for, than we may not have any materials on that country or language. Please send an email to our helpdesk at
pres.FamProject@dliflc.edu to confirm. We welcome country and language suggestions for inclusion in future products.
